  Place one bin bag into the plastic body, 16-18litre bin bag will be suitable for this dustbin.

Open the battery compartment at the bottom of the lid and insert four "D" type batteries.

Turn on the power switch located on the rear of the lid. The red indicator light will stay on for 3 seconds, and then flash once every three seconds to show that it is working.

When you need to open the bin hold your hand about 15-20cm in front of the infrared panel. The lid will then open automatically within half a second, and close again automatically within 5 seconds of moving your hand away. If you do not move your hand away the lid will stay open.
